Stolen Turismo (Christmas Day)
« on: December 25, 2015, 11:19:39 PM »
Hi
I've had my Cordolo Red Turismo SC64 ZWJ stolen off my Drive earlier this evening (25th Dec). It was stolen in the Nottingham area. Obviously the police are on to it but if you  do spot it please post back.

Thanks
PWalder

No they don't have a key. How can they drive the car without one? I didn't have any extra alarms fitted.....do you know what the official description of the standard factory fitted security/immobiliser is called?

Where were you then? So they broke into your car without keys and drove away? It should be immobiliser there to do their job if they don't have the keys. >:(

You'd be surprised but it's not that difficult to take a car without keys. At least we require keys to start the cars, but those cars with remote push button starts are even easier.

Hope you get it back soon.

Thanks for the support. Must admit I thought that an immobiliser would......immobolise. The police told me that they have had a lot of cars broken into recently without evidence of forced entry. It would seem that the the thieves are well ahead of the manufacturers. 😞

Very easy if you know how. Readily available products from grey parts of the internet that would, with massive forums to support their usage, render any car a viable target.

My insurers are already talking about a pay out. As I will inevitably get involved in some sort of negotiation about market value what sort of figure do you think I should be looking for. The cars was a Cordolo Red Turismo which was registered December 2014 and has covered 8500 miles. It was a standard 160bhp spec with manual transmission and black leather seats, 10 spoke diamond cut alloys etc. Any advice very welcome.

Thanks

You should expect to get the same money that similar cars are retailing for. The idea is that their payout is supposed to enable you to buy one now that matches age and spec. Any less and you can kick a stink up. It must also be based on dealer prices not 2nd hand car dealers.

Did you buy it new and when in Dec was it registered..  Most Policies cover a brand new replacement in the first 12 months if you bought new. (And most have leeway of 14 to 30 days over the 12 months), so depending on when in Dec it was registered you should be able to push for a Brand New Like for Like replacement as long as you bought it new.

Just up the road from you in Mansfield area. so keeping eyes open..

Also Stable Door and Horses, but this is where a GAP Policy is worth its weight in gold. 150ish for 3 or 4 years cover and if its stolen or written off you get paid by the GAP Provider for the difference between what the insurer paid out and the full amount you paid, an often overlooked and bagain policy on cars
