595 Competizione by TAG Heuer
« on: January 12, 2016, 12:13:36 PM »
Germany are getting a exclusive limited edition 595 Competizione, renders look like it will be in the Biposto Matte grey...

The 2016 Abarth 595 Competizione by TAG Heuer model will be limited to just 30 cars (exclusively for sale in Germany) and in addition to some seemingly thrilling performance promises, comes with a matching limited edition TAG Heuer Carrera watch. Not that the “by TAG Heuer” version of the Abarth 595 Competizione car has a unique styling and of course comes with the watch but otherwise appears to have the same mechanical underpinnings as the also new “standard” Abarth 595 Competizione cars.

The timepiece is a base TAG Heuer Carrera automatic chronograph with its retro-chic racing watch design popularized by the Carrera’s initial debut in the 1960s. The clean dial is imbued with an Abarth logo in the subsidiary seconds dial, and TAG Heuer matches the steel case with a deep burgundy with red stitching strap. Inside the 41mm wide watch is a Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic mechanical chronograph movement. It is a fitting wrist accessory for driving around in the 180 horsepower 1.4 liter turbo engine inside of the Abarth 595 Competizione which promises a 0-100 kilometers per hour time of 6.7 seconds. Not to shabby for the micro-hatchback.

For the limited edition Abarth 595 Competizione by TAG Heuer customizations and body kit the companies decided to work with Italian Garage Italia Customs. Special features include unique 17 inch alloy wheels, TAG Heuer branding inside and out, large Brembo brakes, and Interscope sound system, special paint and aluminum accents, as well black with red accents Alcantara-wrapped racing seats.

Lovely car but I'm just not a big fan of the Biposto matte finish.

Just an update on that, found the press release that states its a wrap!

Specific two-tone hue to wrapping brushed aluminum effect executed by "Garage Italia Customs"
• alloy wheels 17
"• Red brake calipers
• Bucket Seats Sabelt leather and alcantara black color
• Interscope Sound System
• Pre-navigation
• Plaque d specific identification of aluminum inside "TAG Heuer Limited Edition"
• Exterior Badges "TAG Heuer"
• A TAG Heuer key ring

Another LE, not sure its coming to the UK, a 500 (140hp) in Podium Blue/Scorpion Black

They obviously have a few to shift before the facelift is announced in March.
The fact it's a wrap is interesting, I wonder what colour will be underneath, Rally Beige?

Nice car, but forget the mass produced watch and never fit that stupid plate on the gear stick column.

I like the strap on the watch, I am not a fan of Tag watches but that one uses a 7750 movement that quite good.
Worth mentioning that the movement costs around £200. Tag also use a movement that they got from Seiko!

Who would want a car named after a watch?

Perhaps the Tag Heuer bit refers to a rebadged Renault 1.6T Hybrid? 🤔

In case nobody gets my reference, and to avoid looking foolish, Red Bull are running Renault engines badged as Tag Heuer in this years F1... 👍
