Title: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition
Post by: Andy595 on May 23, 2017, 06:32:20 AM
Hi Guys
Am contemplating the above. It looks like a Turismo with extras.
Does any body know if it is fitted with the Garret turbo or the IHI?
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy. The latest Yamaha limited edition is based on a 595 Turismo. I believe the series 4 gets the Garret turbo shared with the Competizione unlike the series 3 with the IHI. Produces the same 165ps as the Turismo too. lots of detail on the Abarth official site, and some good images and video on YouTube. I understand an early build car was at Abarth Day last weekend...

Anyway, others more technically gifted will undoubtedly provide a better level of detail. Failing that, you can wait a few weeks until ours turns up and I'll give you the full low-down  ;)

Hi Andy..
Not certain on the turbo,  however there was a 595  XSR at Arbarth day last saturday . numbered 000/695
The promo pictures look good , the car in the flesh looks great.
The first dealers models should be available early to mid june i believe . hopefully mine should arrive at the same time .
`Ive order the 695 XSR with the 180 bhp and brake upgrade, with carbon door sills , carbon gear stick and carbon pedals .
Its a great looking piece of kit, and well worth considering .

Hi Jennifer
Thanks for the reply,  I would be interested to hear what you think of the car, we are pretty sure this is the one for us, not sure whether the IHI or Garrett turbo is a massive issue any way as we don't rag the car too much.

Not totally sure but going by the numbers it will be the IHI for 160 odd horses  :)

The 695 XSR does come with Garrett turbo, the same as the S4 Turismo. The way the car has been specced pairs it up perfectly with the 180 Elaborazione kit (only available with the Garett turbo) which would take it to the same power as the Competizione. The press release (below) hints at that which is quite a clever move as it gives a choice of specs while keeping it all factory standard.

Personally I think the XSR, with the kit, is the ultimate Abarth you could by at the moment. If it was an option when I bought I probably would have chosen it over my S4 595c Comp. My only reservation would have been the lack of Sabelts but the Akrapovic, carbon dash, Biposto handles/badge trim and exclusivity would have won me over.

I also love the fact itís only available as a convertible, every Abarth should be a convertible!

From press release
A 1.4 T-Jet engine delivering 165 HP sits beneath the bonnet. Equipment on this special series includes Koni rear suspension and Eibach springs, 17'' Supersport alloy rims with Matt Black finish, Satin Chrome accents on handles and badge supports, red details on bumpers and mirrors, red brake callipers and a braking system with perforated discs. This version can be customised even further using the tuning kit to increase the power to 180 HP, improve handling by fitting a Koni front suspension with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) valve and make braking even prompter with 305x28mm perforated and self-ventilating Brembo floating front discs with high-performance Ferodo HP 1000/1 front brake pads.

Just a point of clarity ....the 695 XSR is available as a Convertable or Hatch Back.
Also just recieved a call from the dealer......initially only 100 units available for the UK.

Hi CJ
The reason for the question was based on the new Turismo being rated at 165 bhp and has a Garrett turbo, my series 3 Turismo is 160 and has the IHI.
Thanks for the replies.

Neil, how does the 180ps and Brembo upgrade work? Is that the Elaborazione kit mentioned? We enquired about adding Brembo brakes as most of the promo stuff shows them but it's cost prohibitive from the outset... will be on the lookout for a set of red calipers over the coming months. Only 100 units is great news for exclusivity too, so thanks.
Title: Re: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition
Post by: Neil R on May 25, 2017, 09:06:13 PM
Hi JenniferLouise.........
The upgrade kit comes in 2 parts .......the first is the 180 bhp flash tool , and then the Elaborazione kit. As the car is so new the dealers and myself contacted Arbarth Turin to verify how to order the the upgrade. One of the issues that needed clarification was which kit would complement the Akrapovic exhaust system.
The kits is delivered to the  dealers and then fitted at the dealership.  The cost of the upgrade is approx £2430.00
I must say Abarth customer services in the UK and Turin along with the dealership have been fantastic, ( including direct calls from the Turin Factory )
Also , having contacted my car insurer , they have confirmed that the upgrades will be listed as manufacture upgrades and not aftermarket modification so having very little effect on the premium , about £29 extra for the next 6 months .
Cant wait for the car to arrive , and i`m sure your the same.
Oh , one question ......did you order and register for the VIP kit ?

Thanks for the information. I think we will look out for a Brembo kit for fitting later, jenniferlouise would rather spend the extra £££s on some sunshine! Didn't go for the VIP package either, in part because we didn't make a commitment until it was about to close and also because it didn't seem that 'VIP'.   However, like you, really looking forward to picking up the car and having one of the first.  I'm wondering whether it will come with Pirelli or Michelin tyres...
Title: Re: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition
Post by: Andy595 on May 26, 2017, 07:25:53 PM
Whilst I do not know on the 695 Yamaha, my understanding is that the Supersport wheels if fitted to the Comp model are fitted with Michelin tyres. I hope so, not because the Pirelli's are bad, just had them on the last two Turismo's we have had and I fancy the change.
If you can get a 180 bhp upgrade, does this confirm the turbo is a Garrett or can 180 be squeezed out of the IHI?
We have ordered by the way, so is on the way for delivery in the next couple of weeks😁😎

Which dealer is yours coming from? Hard top or convertible? As mentioned before, and backed up by FRZ, the series 4 Turismo has the Garrett turbo and now has 165ps, whereas your earlier Turismo, like ours, has the IHI and 160ps. I believe the IHI is now only in the Custom/595 entry car and 145ps.  I've read the extra few horses makes a noticeable difference however Stef has also reported elsewhere that the Garrett can suffer a bit more lag due to its bigger size. So take it you have had confirmation of build now? We have too so just waiting for the slow boat from Italy to dock...  ;)  still smiling at your mention of just 100 initial units coming to UK  8)

The car is coming from Rockingham  Northampton......i`ve ordered the hard top version .
Spoke to Alec at the dealership today and my car is built and has arrived at the docks in the uk.  Our understanding is that the official release date is sometime in mid June, however Alec is trying to find out if Abarth will allow an earlier release if the car is ready beforehand.
The upgrades have also arrived at the dealers now ...........just need the car now to get everything fitted.
I`m certain there will be a few very happy new Abarth owners during June ........ :) :) :) :) :) :)
Also received an unexpected email from Alec when i got home tonight .......picture attached .....

Ours is coming from Richard Corts in Bury, is the hard top.
We did enquire from Research Garage and Stoneacre in Cleckheaton, we decided that Research were too far away and the offer from Corts appears to be excellent, coupled with him saying the car is on it's way in to stock, we decided to order straight away.
Thanks for the info regarding the turbo, hopefully I am correct re the tyres. Neither will spoil what I reckon is a cracking spec'd car though.

None of my previous buggies have had the Abarth side stripe, how does this fare when cleaning and polishing? My current car gets plenty of tar dots, will the dissolving agent damage the stripe?
Andy
Title: Re: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition
Post by: Richard H on May 29, 2017, 08:36:38 AM
The stripes won't be damaged by tar remover, my previous two had white stripes and I used tar remover on them.

My current Abarth has black stripes on podium Blue, after polishing it I have to go along them with a cotton bud to get the polish line off. Apart from that no worries 8)

Great, thanks for the reply, I assume that if I follow the guidance of some posts on the detailing tab here that after polishing, I use a panel while before sealing, the residue should come off the stripe without need of a cotton bud?

It may do.

I use Autoglym Super Resin polish with Poorboys Natty's Blue Wax, others may not show a line.

It could also be down to technique ;)

Hi, well chosen I think those Yamahas look great. If you can run to it, get a new car detail done and sel it all with gtechniq Christal serum with a couple of layers of exo on top for maximum gloss and beading then all you need is a maintenance detail spray. For best results avoid letting the dealer wash it send it straight to the detainer still with it's plastic protection on. Anyway enjoy what ever you decide to do!

Our dealer told us on Saturday that Our car is in the country, but will move at "snail pace" about 10 days or so. This would suit us down to the ground if it is just before the weekend of the 9th😎
Have either of you named your car yet?
Ours is already called Il terzio Diavolo😁

Ours have all followed a theme, the first red Turismo was called Piccolo Diavolo, the second and current one in Circuit Grey is called Diavolo Due, now as you rightly point is the third devil👹

Have had notification my 695 XSR has gone to delivery status. Possible delivery to the dealer next week.
Heard a rumour other XSR`s could be being delivered out at the same time. ( Really hope its correct ).
Also had confirmation that everything for 180 upgrade is at the dealers , just need the car now.
Have you had any thoughts on possible security upgrades....???

Hi Neil
Great news the cars are getting closer, knowing the extra's are there but no car is a bit of a bummer!
We are unlikely to bother with security upgrades, we keep him in the garage at home, so safely tucked up. When at work he is mostly in a secure car park.
I know you can never be totally sure, but.... haven't had an issue yet🙏

Hi all,
Had a call from the dealership today , to say they have refused to accept the 695 XSR allocated to me for delivery .
It turns out that the car on display at Abarth Day at Rockingham Raceway was the vehicle allocated for my order.
Title: Re: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition
Post by: jenniferlouise on June 05, 2017, 08:48:38 PM
Neil sorry I'm being a bit stupid... so is there a car at the dock awaiting PDI. That you assumed was yours. Or the car you thought you were waiting for is already here, cunningly disguised as Abarth demo car, so your dealer won't accept it as 'slightly used' on your behalf, or they are telling you yours is the 'slightly used' and you can't have the one at the dock. Or is there no car at the dock??! I'm so confused!

The car at Geneva was #0/695.  I thought I saw an image of the numbered plaque of the Abarth day uk car as the same #0/695, so same car, but I can't now find it. I'd assume #0/695 belongs to Abarth, unless they simply re-badge it.

So what happens now?
Title: Re: 695 Yamaha XSR Edition

Hi jenniferlouise,
Its all very confusing to be honest .
Having spoken to Alec at the dealership last week , he informed formed me that my car had gone to delivery status and hoped the car would be with them this week.
Upon checking , he found out that the car for delivery was for an order placed some 2 weeks after mine. The dealership owners have been in contact with the suppliers at the docks who confirmed they couldnt find my allocated car. Late this afternoon the dealership was informed that my allocated vehicle was actually used as the hatchback demo car at Rockingham  ( looks like the car number 000/695 was going to be a re badge )
The dealership have refused to accept a car that has been used as a demo and had lots of people sitting in it and playing with it.
They have insisted on a new car being allocated and shipped to them . i have been told that there is another car available at the docks.
Just have to wait now for the delivery .. A  phone call to Abarth uk is on the cards very early tomorrow morning.
A point of interest.....i believe you ordered the soft top ?     There was a soft top on display at Rockingham too .......beware , it could be allocated to a customer ?????Neil.

A bit of disappointing news, I think it clear that we should make absolutely sure the delivery mileage is minimal and traceability is robust, I for one do not want a show car rebadged as new.
On another subject, have any of you guys had insurance quotes yet?
Andy

Hi, Andy ,
get the delivery miles checked for sure.
I`ve  been in contact with my insurance company about the XSR,  it will add about £30.00 to my insurance for the remaining 5/6 months of my policy . Depending what extra security i have put on the car it could actually become cheaper.  A full years policy for me should be about £400 - £420 for a full year .

Proper good news then, where in Italy are you going, we go at the end of the month to Abruzzo.
We could do with our dealer letting us know our buggy is in, we are away with friends this weekend, but collecting next week would be brilliant (56 year old and still getting exited by new cars).
I got a quote from Ada as recommended, a very good price indeed.
Another question if I may, does anyone take out either Gap and /or alloy insurance?

I`m looking at taking Gap replacement, i believe this covers you for full replacement at the current value not the invoive price . So if the cost is higher than you paid your covered .
Hope this helps a little mate.

We took out GAP on the last one, not decided on this one... given the depreciation over a year it might still be a pain worth suffering, should the worst happen. Great pics Neil, looks like you'll be first behind the wheel from this trio. We are going to the hills above Amalfi this time, flying in to Naples. It's only 30o and sunny there at the moment  8) good news is the 695 will be ready for the next few AOC events; we plan to be at one or both of the Sharnbrook days in July, Festival Italia and possibly MITCAR in August.

Can I ask a stupid question🙄
What are the extras in the elaborazione kit that make it so worth while, I understand there is the brembos and the 180 tuning, but is there anything else?
Feel free to baffle me with science and or make me look silly, as yet we have never upgraded any car wth anything other than winter tyres, and since buying them, global warming has kicked in. The Pennines have barely seen a drop of snow since🤔

Hi Andy,
I`m no mechanic , but my understanding of the kit , is that it copes much better with the extra power from the upgrade ,,,,,,different shocks ,brembro brakes , and probably most importantly...high performance front brake pads...I`m sure someone can give you a much better explanation ......
It`s my first upgrade too , from various things i have read , the upgrade should make a noticeable difference ( need to keep a watchful eye out for the boys in blue..lol )

If you google search the Elaborazione kit you'll get the detail. This link should help too: http://595-conversionkits.satiztpm.it/en/#2 there are both 160 and 180 kit options, depending on 595 or Turismo model. You'll get Koni front shocks, 305mm front discs and Brembo calipers and pads, the 180ps flash power upgrade and, importantly, a badge to wear with pride for your investment.

Great pictures Neil, just building the excitement for ours next week... has anyone seen the images just released on Twitter for the 695 Rivale? Looks stunning. We'd looked at the 500 version and it was £20k+ so Abarth money! No one has previously mentioned a full Abarth Ltd edition... not sure on the two tone paint. Don't suppose it matters as won't be owning it.

Hi Andy ,
As your away in July we should try to meet up sometime in August.
The car is wicked , drives really smooth and certainly packs a punch. Had a few horn toots ,light flashes and waves on the way home yesterday ( mainly from Fiat Owners ). I`m sure yourself and JL will be pleased when you get your cars.
Alec at Rockingham thinks our cars could possibly be the first to be registered in the UK..... :) :) :) :)

August is good as that would be Festival Italia, which we have registered for. This was a great event last year and, building g on that first one, is sure to be bigger and better this year. Enjoy Italy; where abouts are you going? We are in the Amalfi area and it's glorious. JL loving the multitude of classic 500s. Seen an original Abarth too in Agerola (could hear it before seeing it).

We go to Abruzzo, on the opposite side from Amalfi, love the area and yes, it is amazing to see how many Cinquecento's are buzzing around. We too saw an original Abarth last year, I posted a pic, will have to look it out again.
Taking possession of I T D (our XSR) has hit a slight delay due to getting the detail and paperwork for the private reg🙄, but I am building the excitement and have a suitable bottle of fizz in the fridge!

I`m thinking of getting the crate matt waxed by a couple of local furniture makers who owe me a favour. then use it as a coffee table or more likely as a beside side table .  The parts are brakes, calipers etc so will most likely put them up for sale as they came off an unregistered car .

Hi guys
As we are picking our car up tomorrow and am sunbathing with wine at the moment, I thought I would look up the CarPlay app... am now confused!
Do I need an app? What benefits are there?
As an aside, if any of our little mini owners group notices something a little out of the ordinary, perhaps a post or p.m. Could be in order. I am specifically thinking of th the CarPlay feature at the moment. This as I have never really got to grips with linking my phone to the car and have had the ability to do so for at least the last 3 cars🤔

Got him! The exhaust sounds an absolute blast👹
Karen is the weapons controller in the passenger seat, so has a lot of new kit to play with on the 7"screen.
A couple of questions if I may.
I thought the Akropovic exhaust had a remote button on the dash, this not on ours, Anilo at the dealers said it is controlled via the "sport" button. Is this correct? As it likely to be in sport mode all the time, will not be of any concern!!
The Turismo we have just px'd had aluminium fuel and oil filler caps, should have them too?

Hi Neil, have just checked ours, no Bmc filter here.
Are you to call Abarth h.o. Or the dealer?
I won't let these things spoil my enjoyment of the buggy, but does seem to be an odd way of cutting costs. The aluminium caps are aesthetic but my understanding of the filters is that they are the best sort, the blurb with the Turismo pretty much bragged about having bmc.
Let us know the outcome of your call.

Have got mine all sorted today Andy ,
I originally paid for a  BMC filter, So the dealership have refunded the cost of that , and they have arranged for a new Alloy fuel cap to be sent to me .
It saves me driving to Northampton to collect. Also got them to agree a deal on a Alloy oil filler cap too. To be honest they have been great.
Also today , i have sold all the parts that came off the XSR during the upgrades . All in all a very productive day .

Oh yes!!!! The wait is over... and a fine beast it is too! Very pleased to have taken delivery today, the first day of summer and the longest day too. A good job as it was gone 7 by the time Andy got the car home, and once we'd washed off an M6-load of bugs from the windscreen I got the chance to take it for a drive... it's definitely got a different feel to the previous Turismos... The steering is lighter, slightly more responsive. It drives smoother and seems quieter with roof down than before.  The infotainment is an excellent upgrade, the previous was beyond retro in comparison. It's now got a full tank of Momentum juice and ready for a run to Cambridge for work in the morning. Have to say a big thanks to Oliver and Phil at Research, Nuneaton. Made the purchase really easy, no hiccups with the spec on delivery (rolled their eyes at the missing fuel cap saga) and would highly recommend to members. Thanks too to Saint, I'll PM you. Oh and Paul fear not, the fairy lights are already hanging up 😉 and Bertie, can you do something about my Aussie image loading; I can't stop the forum flipping my pictures when loading from the iPad. Oh well... you'll all just have to keep rotating your devices JL

Hi guys
Glad all deliveries made and toys in correct ownership!
We will be in Italy pretty much through July so not at the meets. If you go, maybe post some pics on this thread so we can see.
I spoke to our dealer, who also has been very good and the filter and fuel cap are on hand to fit, just needs us to drop in. Any idea how long the filter takes to fit?
As the problem appears to have been a mix up between what the factory fit and what the dealer fits it made me start thinking about a couple of other things.
The parcel shelf is a basic black item where both the Turismo and Competitzione models have an embroidered version, should the XSR have an embroidered one?
Our carpet mats are a basic mat with a metal Abarth badge to the outer edge, the Turismo had mats with leather sections for heel rests.
On the basis that I am looking to have all and any issues resolved at the outset rather than constantly gripe about little issues, would like to know if the above needs raising?
Andy

Ours were fitted by the dealer from new on our 66 plate 595. The Graphite ones go very with the Anthracite alloys which also go well the Record Grey. The near side gators have taken a kicking and are a little shredded but you can just about clean them up with the cutting tool you get with them. Needless to say they've saved the diamond cut alloys from nasty scratches..

Never had them, but always give kerbs a wide berth.
Did have some damage a few years ago due to a kerb. Heavy snow and a downhill camber had me sliding at slow speed until the kerb stopped me!

Never had them, but always give kerbs a wide berth.
We are the same... had a couple trips to the local 'get smart' body shop for wheel repairs but not enough to invest. Have given it serious thought with these new black alloys. Was weighing up black, grey and red options. Series 1 and 2 available now I understand, the latter topping £80 plus fitting (ive seen approx £130, which is two wheel refurbs). Our jury is out, interested to see what you do Neil.

On a different issue, we picked the car up from Research having only had a preparatory wash, which is perfect. Yesterday and this morning given it a coat of Autoglym, a coat of Dr Beasley carnauba wax, and a top 'finishing spray' mist. Polished the glass (simple domestic cleaner) and applied some Dr Beasley alloy wheel sealant. Just need somewhere to go now!

Alloygators are great.
However when you change your tyres make sure to tell the company to be careful as they could 'damage' them and you may not be able to put that protector on.

Also dont take it on track as i found out! :D

I gave him a wash yesterday and polished with some Autoglym super resin polish, followed by a coating of Autofinnesse Essence Caranauba wax. Looks pretty good to me.

I`m thinking either Red or Black Alloygators to be honest , and leaning towards the black to keep them understated . Version 2 seem more pleasing on the eye.
Hoping to go a see them at a fitters tomorrow ,i believe they have all colours in stock, V1 and V2.   Version 2 £150 fitted is the best  price i can find locally.
Hope to report back tomorrow , Also checking out some custom stitched floor mats.

Some of the ones I've seen fitted look awful
making the wheels look like they wobble.
Hopefully they have someone who will do a decent.
Car looks stunning by the way.

Have been before and thoroughly enjoyed both the moving motor show and the full FOS experience. As I recall we were almost convinced on a Renault Twizy with full F1 wrap. Having just bought the XSR we don't need the distraction of more shiny metalwork. Need a period of calm, pay some bills, and watch the FOS highlights on the internet! Have fun.

Definitely not us, never on the M4, and safely in the searing heat of Abruzzo!
Good pics the other day Neil from the FOS. A week on Saturday we will be going to the Pescara Car Show, this year celebrating the history of the Pescara Grand Prix, Stirling Moss the current title holder and also the 60th anniversary of the Cinquecento.
The show may not have the ability to attract the exotic cars the FOS does, but we saw it a couple of years ago and it did draw in some fantastic motors.

Hi SADGIT595,
As promised feedback on the custom car mats.  I picked them up today from the Post Office .
Quality seems to be very good , stitching too. The front mats have a very thick heal plate . A perfect fit on all 4 mats , the 2 front mats come with studs to fit directly into the car . I ordered the Luxury mats not the top end ones . All in all they seem to be a very good buy.
A couple of pictures attached,  not a brilliant camera on my phone sorry to say , oh....and forgot to brush the mats before taking the pictures.
Hope the info is helpful to you and anyone else looking for something a bit different.
Neil.

It might be worth trying to print a colour picture of the badge , and hold it somewhere near where you want to place it, then take a picture....then post it on here and put it to a vote.
I did something similar with the Elaborazione badge when i had the upgrades fitted  ( pictures attached ).
Hopefully in Weymouth sometime during week commencing 14th August.

The difficulty in trying to change an XSR  is would it devalue a limited edition car .....?    i`ve had the 180 upgrade done, had some custom mats made , and may have Alloygators fitted to protect the alloy wheels,  apart from that i intend to keep it stock..... Changes / upgrades are down to the individual   i suppose .
I might be able to make the meet on the 20th .

Hi Pederb6,
The BMC  filter and Alloy gas cap are standard on the 695 XSR,  however they are not fitted at the factory, they have to be fitted at your dealership before collection.
This mistake has happened at lots of UK dealers too.   Contact your dealership and get them to fit the correct parts, if you have any problems contact Abarth customer services.   Welcome to the Owners Club and enjoy your new XSR,
Did you go for the Hatchback or Convertable ..?     of the 695 , what numbered car did you get ?
Neil .
PS... Post a couple of pictures.

Those pesky Brembo brakes! A
Whilst thinking the Brembo's look the dogs nuts and all that, I can say from recent experience that the standard brakes stop the car in rapid time.
The recent decision to change car and get the XSR was due to a child running out into the road from between parked cars, we stopped on a sixpence, unfortunately the lorry behind didn't. Bumper and exhaust damage. New car ordered the next day😄
Does make it difficult to convince Karen of the safety benefits of the Brembo's, in fact quite the opposite coz we would probably have stopped even quicker and suffered more damage!

Hi Mrbrown......... Welcome to the club.  The XSR is a great car to drive......enjoy and have lots of fun.
Just confirm with your dealer the air filter and fuel cap are fitted before you drive off,  no other issues to look for really.
You can also get an Alloy oil filter cap as an extra if you fancy the idea,
Is your a Hatch or soft top......?   Any idea of the number out of the 695 being made.  A picture of the Alloy fuel cap attached....(  i hope ...lol  )

ps   post some pictures on collection day

I kind of doubt there is a run in period these days, though is always safe to say wait til your engine is up to temperature before letting fly😇
I tend to allow 3k before being over adventurous... might want to keep the car long term!

No defined run period as far as i am aware.  AS per Andy`s post......warm up the engine before you let rip.
Have to admit to a heavy right foot within a week of picking mine up ....and boy does the car want to move...... :)
Have fun and enjoy.

Picked mine up on Friday and have been enjoying it all weekend, that exhaust note on turbo...! It's a totally different car from my 595, feels much more planted, I'm not sure if its the koni's or the PZero Nero's but it feels much more stable in the wet as well.

Only issue is that I should have 180bhp but the dealer screwed up and I'm still at 165bhp, I have the koni's and the brembo's fitted but have to wait until next week for the EMC update as they screwed up the order. They didn't help the issue when they seemed to suggest early last week that it would be better to have the car pre-EMC upgrade as "that's what Abarth suggest" which I said I can understand but I'm a) used to driving Lotus's and a turbo VX220 so I'm not that worried about the power and b) if I'd gone for the Competizione as I'd first planned, I'd have driven that away with 180bhp anyway. Then at the end of the week on the day I pick up the car they drop that the chip isn't here and they'll have to do it later.

I also have no alloy fuel cap, does anyone remember the subject title of the email the dealer should have got? I was sure I remembered reading it here but can't find it.

ANYWAY, moan aside it love it. But then I've always considered Abarth's to be more than the sum of their parts and way better to drive than the motor press give in reviews.

It won't be the PZero's, I had a Tursimo as a courtesy car and found them awful in the wet compared to the Michelin PS3's on my Comp.

H Ben , Welcome to the XSR family.
Hope the above attachment helps. Make sure you have the BMC filter fitted too. The Alloy fuel cap and BMC filter still seem to be an issue with dealers.
Strange that your dealership state Abarth  suggest having the car pre flashed.......My XSR was one of the first supplied with the 180 upgrade and everything was upgraded prior to delivery.
It`s  a great car to drive , and certainly packs a punch .. :)     Just watch out for the boys in blue... ;D

Hi all, and thanks for the info Neil.

I maybe wasn't clear about the dealer but I think that basically and frankly, they knew they'd screwed up the Elaborazione ordering (they've now told me that they didn't realise they had to order the chip separately from the rest of the kit as they'd not had to do that in the past) at the start of the week and it hadn't come in with the rest of the parts. Rather than just telling me the chip hadn't arrived they tried to get me to agree to pick up the car without the EMC upgrade (so I can feel/get used to the power) and then come back later so it didn't seem like they'd screwed up.

They then pretty much told me on the day I was getting the car that the EMC upgrade hadn't been done yet and they'd do it this week. Now I've been told it'll be next week.

This is guess work on my part but it seems to line up with this sudden phone call hinting that Abarth claim I should have the car pre update first, which like I said made some sense but I've driven much more powerful cars AND if I'd gone for the Competizione then there would have been no EMC remap.

ANYWAY, I don't wanna moan up the thread. Other than this the car has been great.

Mine does not have the Carbon Fiber dash? Mine has a flat grey dash?

The list said that it should have carbon fiber board? Anybody else with a flat grey dash?

Crikey, not sure how that could happen, the carbon fibre dash is part of the build spec!
Don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the car, but certainly have your dealer sort it out.
Have you had the courtesy call from Abarth in Italy? Letting them know should help sort it if the dealer is a little tardy.

I actually read somewhere that the CF dash was an option on the XSR but to my knowledge all are supplied as standard, very strange

So does anyone have plans for taking care of their Akrapovic?

It's made of Ti right? Is that the full system (outside of the tip covers which I've put some wheel protection on)? Or is some stainless steel?

Titanium is a pretty low maintenance metal but has anyone else given it some thought?

Added some pics of my car.

Just a quick note about insurance, not sure if this the right thread, but as we have an XSR why not.

We have been with Adrian Flux for a couple of years and have been competitive, renewal this year also competitive with others, with £10 or so. This until I contacted Aviva, half price, bloody brilliant.

Web based application and all went smoothly. Highly recommended.

Will still keep in touch with AF for next year, keeping options open, but!

Hi,
Sorry we couldn't help this year but sounds like you've got a right result from Aviva for this year. Thanks for keeping us in mind for next year though as things do change pretty quickly in the insurance world.
Regards,
Dan.

Hi Andy, I'm currently with Aviva and their renewal for me has just come in much increased, so will be shopping around again, including a PM to Dan. Proves Dan's point about insurance markets changing quickly... dare say I'll get an improved online quote and find that Aviva will match it to keep the business. Will let you know how I get on... JL

Hi Dan & JL

I agree that the insurance market moves at a pace, and we have had excellent service from Adrian Flux when we were bumped in May so will definitely contact again when next renewal due. Half price was too good to ignore.

Just seen Benjamin is running Brembo too. Another XSR owner I'm snubbing (joke). I know they are an expensive option and that the car stops well enough on the standards, which also look the part in red, but that doesn't stop the pining.

A good friend recently bought a Volvo V70 for £200 - which took us to Spa and back without missing a beat - so I cannot justify any further investment. In fact, A is contemplating a similar 'classic' purchase although we've nowhere to put it and you just know it will fail almost instantly and cost far more than it's worth to breathe life back into it. I caught him salivating over a mk1 XR2 last weekend... £7k!! That's not £200!!

Anyway, back on XSRs, and still loving everything about it. Pleasingly the work trips have reduced a little so mileage is staying satisfyingly lower than expected too. Desperately needs a clean, but with nowhere to go this weekend it will have to stay looking a bit unkempt for now...

Hi JL,
Give AXA  a try for your insurance, but use their main web site not comparison sites.
Neil.

Dan politely responded to a PM and quotes were provided by AF as well as Axa (Neilís suggestion), current provider Aviva and a search on Compare the Market. Outcome is a significant saving by switching to eSure. And buying through Compare weíve got 2 for 1 cinema all year too!

Hi JL,
Good to see you got a good deal.
My insurance is due in November, it will be interesting to see what the renewal quote from AXA comes out at . A web search sounds favourite too.

Have a question regarding the Akro exhaust, does the valve open when hitting the sport button, or is just a different engine note your because of the map change?

Dealer thinks this was the case but I seem to know a lot more about the car than they do and it seemed like he was just going along with the idea.

Checked myself and it seems pretty clear that yes, the electronic value works with the sport button and itís not just the map change or later spinning turbo.

The valves does  work with the sports button activated on the XSR.

Hi all.
One very happy XSR owner here.........Insurance renewal came through from AXA,  showing £43 increase on last year.
However after contacting them by phone and discussing various qoutes from online and increasing my excess by £50 my new policy is £42 cheaper than last year.
Always pays to push them hard.
Neil.

Some bloke called Barney or something. He is more intent on teaching the rest of the European plebes that they shouldn't look to leave the EU rather than negotiate a fair settlement for Britain.
