General Chat / Re: How Long Do You keep Your Cars
« on: October 12, 2018, 08:19:21 AM »
Will keep this another year I think. Iíve bounced around ideas for other cars but I think Iíll be going back to Lotus and going for a Elise 250 Cup. I donít not love my Abarth (I very much do love it) I just have an itch to scratch, if I got 18k for the Abarth right now Iíd probably take it.

Beading thanks to Getechniq ceramic coating.

Hi

Is this coating self applied or did you go to a professional company?

Andy

Hey Andy, it was professional applied and they did an amazing job.
It's ceramic coated and has an extra layer of EXO hydrophobic on the top for even better beading.

Cheers for that. I ask because I use Gtechniq products, while expensive, I think worth it. I have some of the none pro coating which I am going to be applying when back from hols.

Andy

No problem, I am very happy with Gtechniq products and even when car is dirty the shine is clearly still there.
Reep in the East Midlands applied mine after a full detailing and I'd recommend them as well.

Used to own a VX220, had two in fact.
Considering going for an Elise 250 CUP next after I'm done with my 695.

There's also the Akrapovic, which I personally think is the better system.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Re: Sports mode
« on: September 20, 2018, 06:28:48 PM »
Newer models don't and frankly starting up in sports mode in a car with a turbo is a bad idea which is highly likely why Abarth changed it for later cars.
Sports mode spins the turbo up sooner and faster, even in modern cars the less you spin a turbo before a car has warmed up the better.

Abarth 124 / Re: Remap from Celtic tuning
« on: September 16, 2018, 04:21:15 PM »
I think US tuners have had this engine up and over 250 bhp so the engine should be fine with 200bhp (frankly I'd have been throwing money at Abarth if the GT had come with 205bhp like I expected it would, it weighs less than the new Alpine, 200-220 bhp would have been fantastic), the main issue I think would be the gearbox, but that should be fine with 205bhp and it would be higher power that it would struggle with.

Abarth 124 / Re: TMC tuning box install

And despite what the vendors claim, dealers CAN and DO detect when a box has been used - even when it's unplugged and removed from the car.

I'd be very interested to know how you think they do this.

Driving position is awful. I can never get it right, if I want to heel and toe I have to push myself back so my legs have room to move but then I'm too far from the wheel and the handling feels off and to fix it I have to move the seat closer or lift the back forwards so I end up sitting kinda bolt up right. So yeah I feel your pain.

That said, the car is the most fun I've ever had on 4 wheels and I've had a good number of cars like Lotus etc to compare it to, the engine is just fantastic and engines with a Garrett turbo as standard can easily hit 205 bhp all from a 1.4.

For Sale / Re: Abarth 695C XSR #035 *SOLD*
« on: August 23, 2018, 07:21:58 PM »
Feel free to not answer, I would understand but how much did you sell it for? I'm considering an A45 or BWM M140i or possibly going all in on a Maserati but I'm wondering what sort of prices the XSR is going for, the 18k seemed pretty optimistic.

Pro Alfa / Re: Mapping
« on: August 14, 2018, 10:58:31 PM »
I would love a remap on my 180 Comp. I still in warranty for 2 years +. It seems too big of a risk to take losing the manufacturers  warranty with a remap.

I've had it confirmed directly with Abarth Headquarters and Technical that a remap does not void your manufacturer warranty

Er really?
