TMC Motorsport / Re: Which Monza to buy?
« on: January 09, 2016, 09:10:31 PM »
The Tributo came with a mild steel Monza. This has since been replaced by the stainless steel Monza. The sound of the Tributo is very similar to the 180 Comp as they both run GT 1446 turbos hence the obvious turbo whistle. The 180 Comps run a Euro 6 ECU so that might have a small effect of the comparison. Effectively the noise is as a result of a free flowing exhaust on Euro Tjet engine.

You have the 1.4 FIRE Turbo Multiair engine which is US spec. My understanding is that the US car has a free flowing exhaust as standard unlike the Euro model. Like the Euro engine the US version has it's own sound, much more sporty. We need the free flowing exhaust to make ours sound more raspy where as yours sound great out of the box.

As a result of having a different engine and turbo it will never sound the same and the Tributo and as the Monza is designed for the Tjet it probably isn't worth fitting.

thank you for your input... really appreciate it...

Hello and welcome.  Great to see more members from across the Pond.   ;D

thanks 595girlie , saw your thread love what you did to your car, we dont get the nicce monza and awesome seats over here :(

hi from sunny Scotland....the abarth must cause quite a stir in amongst all the v8 yank stuff? or is California now going 100% eco friendlier ;D

I'm in the Silicon Valley so its a mixture of hotrods, Euro Sport cars and exotics... you'll see a bunch of rich statup kids in high horspower cars that cant drive...lol!!

Welcome.

I know Southern California well, having worked in Los Angeles for a good number of years, and now go back on vacation a couple of times a year. There are some great driving roads in the northern half of the State as well, though, I happen to know. Where in NorCal are you from?

I'm in Danville/San Ramon Area...
Ah, Danville..... home of the fabulous Blackhawk Museum which I've been to a couple of times. And I believe there are also some great Cars & Coffee meets there as well?

yes Colin... not as much Cars and Coffee as Southern Cal.. there are 3 major ones... Blackhawk cars and coffee 1st weekend of every month, 100 Octane in Santana Row(2nd weekend), Cars and Coffee San Francisco(3rd weekend i believe)...

Alex

I love the look of your car. I also have grey. You have inspired me to consider the Tributo grey stripes. Something I was pondering but having seen them on yours I am adding them to my list.

You car sounds well sorted too! CB should be able to point you in the right direction on cooling and as I type I can see he has!  ;D

thanks! Yes i did a few research on pictures.. not many out there on regular abarths.. but i dont want to be a poser so not getting those 695 tributo decal although I got the horsepower :)

Hi Alex,your car looks great👍
I've recently installed an ATM intercooler and it's a fantastic bit of kit,try the Monza with a sports cat and custom mid section,I've done something similar with mine with really good results.

thanks CB...  i'll look into it when I get back, going to Asia for a month ..uggh! any vendor recommendation for Monza and ATM?

I really like the unbroken side stripes that are lower down and finish at the door. It really seems to give a cleaner look to the side of the car. Not sure it would work quite so well with more contrast such as red on white but the grey on grey looks great.

thanks.. I got the idea from the Cayman R :)  I think it looks good on a white or silver car/black side stripes.
