Abarth Punto Evo / APE Dipstick
« on: August 01, 2017, 07:41:05 PM »
Hi folks one for the fiddlers be careful when checking your oil then removing the engine cover....because you might just snap the dip stick in the shaft. ....yes that was me.....did a 5 minute rant looking for something to kick.  Collected my thoughts then went to investigate luck would have it the tube is split and you are able to remove a 10mm nut and the tube is fitted with a rubber grommet allowing me to remove it and ensure it won't do any damage until I get a new one ordered. ....if it could happen to anyone it would happen to me !!!!

Folks am on for a rant.......this is the second time I've gone to get parts for my APE to get home and find I've been given the wrong parts, just got home after picking up some oil and a filter for a change to find some tin thing in the filter box that wouldn't even fit my 500 sport !!!!! So no oil change done tonight just want to shake someone .........by the throat  >:(

Abarth Punto Evo / Parking brake
« on: April 01, 2016, 08:47:18 PM »
Well that's a first car off the road due to a broken handbrake cable at the MOT centre... It was ok yesterday until a big hairy water buffalo pulled the neck off it today result failed handbrake took it apart to look and the passengers side cable stretched beyond belief....flipping ragging so it's parked up, parts ordered.

Abarth Punto Evo / The dreaded top mounts
« on: October 07, 2015, 02:35:22 PM »
Well my wee APE began showing signs of being ill again !! and I couldn't find the reason until I had enough and removed a wheel jacked it up and reached high up into the collovers and gave it a shake....movement ......not a good sign, now this has been after two separate checks from two garages who will remain nameless as I diagnosed, sourced and got fixed myself!!!!! Anyway they where completely shot !!! But all is well again and the APE is no longer torque steering like a rotty after a rabbit... food for thought to ABARTH if your reading this....don't built a car put power into it then surround it with sub standard parts it = epic failures and a loss of love for the brand.

General Chat / modified throttle body
« on: August 18, 2015, 09:35:04 AM »
Hi folks,

I have been looking into modified throttle bodies for the multiair, presently are only sourced from the states but for around 200 US dollars and the gain in response I was maybe going to look further into it.
Does anyone know of a UK company that could modify/look into a UK version?
I don't know enough about it just now regarding mapping / plug and play etc.
Just really looking for your thoughts?
Cheers

Not sure if it's worth it or not, not even sure how or where we would install one.  Cheers folks getting your thinking caps on.

Abarth Punto Evo / APE handbrake adjustment
« on: January 25, 2015, 12:04:01 PM »
Hi Folks

After asking the above question on many sister sites I finally got an answer so I will post the How to here.

So.

1. If you have an armrest you will need to remove the front plastic cover on the rest.
2. Remove the three nuts holding it down, there's a connector in there I don't know for (yet).
3. With nuts removed lift the armrest up and clear.
4. The trim left needs to be squeezed at both sides to release it, then pull it up and forward out of the way, I found it easier to sit in the back with both seats lifted and pushed forward.
5. You will see a foot plate, look towards the rear of this and shine a torch in.
6. Hopefully you will then see a long nut with the cables running up both sides of the mechanism.
7. Fit a long handled 10 mm spanner in and adjust, do test and adjust remembering that we have a hill holder.
8. Refitting is the reverse of the above.

I hope this helps others.
