Abarth 124 / Re: 124 Matte Bonnet Issues
« on: July 01, 2018, 12:14:53 AM »
Exactly the same on mine. Vinyl bonnet, painted boot. The dealer is adamant that the white bits are residue after they destroyed the paint work with the old swirly treatment. I've spent most of this glorious summer with the worst paint job I've ever seen.

It's insane how bad dealers are at cleaning cars. They utterly destroy the paint work.

So today was finally collection day and I could finally confirm things get loud with sports mode  :)

Shame the dealer experience wasnít great at Sturgess, it felt like pulling teeth going through the whole process. Didnít help as well that the carbon gearstick and alloy fuel cap are missing as they arenít part of the pack anymore apparently. Iím going to check tomorrow about the air filter but Iím not holding out hope. Iíll get in touch with Abarth customer services to see whatís actually meant to be on.

Sturgess can be like pulling teeth.

In defence of the dealer, they got in contact a few days after getting the letter and have agreed without argument (nice guy on the phone) to pay for the repair.
Shame I won't be able to get it fixed before Abarth day but oh well, never mind.

My car was damaged on the forecourt last year before I'd even picked it up, getting it fixed was like pulling teeth. Now, days before Abarth Day after being asked not to wash the car (in person, on the phone and leaving a notice inside the car window) they wash it.

What's the big deal you ask? Well my car has been ceramic coated and over this there is a layer of hydrophobic EXO used to repel dirt and water. Whoever washed the car went at it like a bull in a china shop, they scrubbed at bugs on the front, used a naff sponge and dirty water and a car that looked like a mirror is now covered in swirls and marks which are likely in the layer of EXO.

I've taken it to Reep Midlands to get a quote on getting the EXO replaced at the dealers expense and sent them a recorded letter informing them I expect them to make it right. Reep agree that the EXO has been damaged due to naff washing techniques, lucky they doubt the ceramic coating has been damaged.

It's just infuriating a few days before an Abarth event that the car is covered in swirls and scratches where as days before it looked like a mirror.

Thanks for that.

Well I finally have 2 tickets, nightmare trying to book online!

Spend 2 hours trying, every time I entered date of birth the system blanked it and I had to start again
In the end I contacted Sam at Thames Abarth and he logged in and sorted in 2mins

Sure the day will be both worth it and better organised 😀

Had the same problem on my Mac, moved to Chrome on my PC and it helped.

Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Service interval... again...
« on: June 25, 2018, 08:21:10 PM »
I started to wonder if a 165 bhp car upgraded to 180 bhp had 6k service intervals like the Comp 180s but the dealer says all 595s are serviced at 9k.

So I'm having trouble getting this locked down to the right answer. Dealer says all Abarth 595 (whatever their model) are serviced at 9k. The internet in a number of places is saying this is wrong and it's 6k for 180 bhp engines.

This shouldn't matter too much as I'll be coming up on a year soon, but can anyone shed light on this (or point me to a thread elsewhere if it's been asked before recently).

All booked for Sat, going solo.
Do we park anywhere special or just stick Abarth's in the carpark?

Honestly, the Elaborazione was worth it for me. Can't speak for others but glad I have it and in the long run really doesn't cost that much.
Also yeah as others have said the valve works with the sports button and it CLEARLY does work, there is a clear change in sound.

There would be little benefit to bigger rear brakes on a 500 Abarth to be honest, most of your weight is at the front so your fronts do most of the work and in the case of lift of oversteer the rears won't do much at all.

General Chat / Re: Fitting PZero Nero to a Abarth should be a crime
« on: May 19, 2018, 10:40:14 AM »
Iíve had Pirelli shod 500s and Michelin PS3 on our latest 595, all were 140 bhp.

There is no doubt that the PS3 are a better tyre, but the Neroís are not as bad as some make out. It just proves how good the, made in Italy, Michelinís are

Once you start getting up and over 180bhp the difference is easier to see I think.
