Abarth 500, 595 & 695 / Re: Springs - H&R / Eibach or Novitec
« on: July 21, 2016, 07:09:23 PM »

I have the Novitec that drops the car more than the H&R I believe and to be honest I think it could be lowered further.  However, if you have more than two adults in the car you might get an occasional wheel arch rub. Even that could be partly down to the spacers I have to give a wider stance to suit the arches. My set up is common with other owners so go for it  ;)

What shocks are you running with the Novitec springs? I am considering going with Novitec as well. I currently have KONI FSDs and SS springs. Not too sure how much it will lower the car. I've also been advised that it really reduces the amount of shock travel with the FSDs.

I've just got the standard shocks that came with my Competizione. I've only had the springs changed to Novitec and the bump stops added which are a must I believe.

Guys,

Looking to gather your thoughts on the different springs available for our Abarths. I have a 595 Trofeo Edition and the basic set-up just isn't working. Ideally looking to lower no more than 25mm on rear and approx. 20mm on fronts.

Thanks,
Balal

Hi HWK 114,( sorry.. you did tell me your name but i`ve forgotten it :-[)

Pleased you enjoyed the show...it was plenty busy enough for me on the Saturday as a visitor...so Sunday must have been manic.

I`m down at Folkestone every three wks, next time will be the bank holiday weekend (27th-30th inclusive), if you fancy meeting up for lunch and or a pint and chat on me, just let me know.

Going to contact JF Automotive, with a view of having pretty much the same "upgrades" as you have had done, as i`m a little upset with ProAlpha response time to email enquires at the moment.

Regards.

Mick.
Hi Mick, It's Sam but don't worry I'm the same with names ;)

We're away on the BH but good to know you pop down our way regularly so will defo meet up sometime to see your car. Let me know once you've had your mods at JF Automotive. I assume you're going for the re-map? I had the Forge induction kit fitted at the same time and it did give approx 10bhp gain. You'll have to live with the induction noise though as not everyone can live with it  ;)

My Novitec lowering springs and Eibach spacers were fitted last month. That'll do for now!  :D

Let me know how you get on.

Sam

Hello all,

Had my Abarth 180 Competizione for 3mths now, this being my 2nd 500.. my previous being a 135 re-mapped with a few other mods.

Spoke to "HWK 114" at the Leeds Castle motor event last weekend... after spotting his and another 500 (Podium Blue Yamaha) taking part there on the Saturday.

Enjoyed the chat to both of them...so here i am.

Will be embarking on a re-map. lowering and  few other mods in the very near future as the car is nicely run-in now.. with 2000mls covered.

Thank you.

Mick.
Hi Mick, good to meet you both last week. I enjoyed Saturday but Sunday looked to be the better day with over 400 cars exhibiting. Great to meet someone with so much passion for Abarth and clearly you know your stuff. I'm only a novice! You said you might join the forum so glad you did and look forward to seeing some pics of your car. You much get them on here!  :)

Adrian Flux Insurance / Re: General Query

Hi Guys,

At the minute i just have a regular abarth, totally un-modified & regular multicar insurance through admiral.

If & when i start to modify my abarth at what point is it a requirement to tell the insurance & i presume at that point it may become cheaper to have a specific policy?

Cheers
I'm with Admiral and I've advised them of all my upgrades and they are fine with it. Probably added approx 80 to my policy for all the upgrades. Not bad really.

Guys

Looks like there are two of us tomorrow (Saturday) in Zone C. Aylsha said John and I will be together but not convinced if we're simply in Zone C rather than an actual AOC pitch....Oh well, whatever happens should be a good day out!  :)

23
The latest with Leeds Castle (bloody nightmare they are).

I'm told I'm the only Abarth on Saturday hence why NO Abarth Owners Club area has been allowed for.

She says 3no Abarths are coming on Sunday which is why they are making allowances for the AOC on Sunday only.

As it stands I'll be in the mix with other cars on Saturday so suggest to anyone actually coming on the Saturday to let Alysha know asap and let me know also so we can give them stick... >:(

24
I'm not able to attend myself (it is a very long haul from Bristol where I allegedly live!), so I've not go a pass of my own to compare...... but if there is one that looks like it is an AOC one and one which is clearly not, I would say that they have goofed up. I would suggest you call them directly - do you have Alysha's phone number?
I do Colin so no worries. I'll call her tomorrow. Be a pity to arrive and find out I'm in a field with a load of Fords  ;)

This is the response I got back from them:

Dear Colin

Thank you for your e-mail. We only have three members, but they are in a pitch altogether as their pass suggests.

We will allocate enough space for the three of them to be together.

Kind regards

Alysha

Colin

I've put my pass on this thread as I still think they've given me the wrong pass as it says nothing about the AOC like CJ's pass for the Sunday. I've emailed Alysha and asked if i have the correct pass. I did make it clear on the application that I was with AOC...I call in the morning as well. Bloody nightmare this is with Leeds, keep being told different things by them!  >:(

Thesaint68

Is your pass the same as this? Looking back CJ attached his pass for the Sunday and it looks very different. His pass is very much an Abarth Owners Club pass whereas mine isn't? Still confused so I'll have to check again with Alysha! I even made it quite clear on the application I was with the AOC....

Thank you guys for confirming. I was going to call them so you beat me to it  ;)

Now it is confirmed we're together probably makes sense we simply meet on the pitch we have. Guess some will arrive earlier than others and my father-in-law is joining me and he is not an early starter!  ;)

Look forward to seeing the guys there.

Received this from Alysha at Leeds Castle, for anyone that has booked? Only for the Sunday though

Morning guys

I've got the same pass to go in my window so would assume we will be parked together?

More than happy to meet at the services beforehand though? I'm an early bird so will meet whatever time you guys are up for it  8)

The weather's looking great so really looking forward to this weekend especially as I missed Brooklands in the end.

Are you defo doing the Saturday? I checked that email from Alysha with the ticket and it said we could even meet in their car park near the entrance if we need to meet before hand. It did say if we weren't part of a car club we would need to meet before. lets see what Colin comes up with after contacting them as it looks as though we had been promised a club area but maybe there wasn't enough of us. Do you know anyone else who is coming on the Saturday?

29
Hmm....... the lady I dealt with earlier in the year was called Francesca Barrett, and we agreed that rather than all the tickets having to be distribute through me, that everyone could apply individually, and that they would group all Abarths together... it is possible that they have forgotten this, or that they felt that we did not have enough cars booked to justify a club stand.

I will pen an email to her tomorrow to find out what happened and let you guys know.
Thank you Colin. I had been dealing with Francesca booking my ticket but it appears Katie has since taken over. Email below...

Dear Sam,

Thank you for your email,

You will be exhibiting as an individual as the Abarth owners club don't have a stand at the event. You will be permitted to bring up to 4 people with you in the car on entry to the event and yes you will be free to walk around the grounds and Castle.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday,

Many thanks,

Katie

Got my entrance ticket today for Saturday  :)

See you Saturday...............
Hi mate, I got an email back from Katie at Leeds Castle who said I'm down as an individual as Abarth Owners Club do not have a stand at the event. Think it could be just us guys on Saturday and we'll be parked randomly. Think we'd only be parked together if we drive in together. I'm easy but if you wanted to pitch up along side me I'd suggest we meet up at the services on the M20 at the Leeds junction before hand. If not don't worry and I'll find you for a chat somewhere during the day. Looks like the weather will be cracking so should be a nice day  :)
