Pro Alfa remap
« on: January 13, 2017, 02:33:50 AM »
Hi Everyone.

I've had my new Moderna yellow series 4 comp ( with sport pack, sunroof, 7" screen and Bose) for a couple of months now and driven a most enjoyable 1300 miles in it . It featured on the ultimate finish website where it had a new car detail and nano coating, it then went up to Expel where it had full front and side skirts  paint protection film applied ( so they now have the cutting template if anyone is interested ).

So possibly now for the next bit, a remap. Pro Alfa appear to be the chaps but can anyone tell me what the exta power and toque do to real life fuel economy and how the map effects the standard and sport mode both in terms of performance and fuel economy. It's not so much the cost of fuel  ( although that's not irrelevant ) but the range isn't massive as it is. I'm probably averaging about 34 mpg currently, with a bit of fun and a fair bit of town driving also it's still fairly tight.

I would also welcome any views on upgrades on the chassis, things like front suspension arm kit rear torison bar , lateral  & front tie  , strut and chassis bars , unibal kit , mounting insert and rear been mounting kit. The car will not be used track days so it's picking out the bits which improve the ride and crispness of the handling still further ( ite already better than  my series 3 turismo with the Konis all round ) and improving comfort rather than making the ride harsher.

Cheers GD

Godmorning George!

Your car looks stunning and is my favourite colour!

Most (if not all) aftermarket coilovers will worsen the ride quality due to lowering the car excessively, limiting suspension travel and the shock hitting the bump stop.

Personally, what I found annoying when I drove a standard S4 Competizione at Silverstone during Abarthday is the rear end getting out of line (see oversteer) when braking hard from 80 or so.

My previous 100HP had the same problem and it was vastly improved when I replaced the shocks with Koni yellows and set the rebound to 1/8 from soft.

If I were you I'd just replace the rear shocks with a set of Koni yellows.

Alternatively, a custom setup: http://www.abarthownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=3101.msg34622#msg34622

One of the ways to improve ride quality is to fit 16" wheels with higher profile tyres.

I have a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 in ET35 that should clear Brembos and I am planning to fit 205/45/16 tyres to them.

Proalfa seem to be getting good results regarding mapping and that's where I have my car serviced, too.

I have no experience of their mapping as my car was mapped by the previous owner at AmD who have done a great job.

Hi X8GHD
I have been using Pro Alfa for quite some time, really friendly knowledgable guys, will listen to your wants and needs and advise you accordingly.. Pro Alfa also specialise in turbo upgrades, and boosting your car to the max some cars that I have seen there are running 250-300 hp !!
I drive a 2010 A 500  which was running 150 with inter cooler and ragazzon exhaust,  after a remap I was running around 175hp which was a massive gain of 25 hp! Increased throttle response, and less lag, I would recommend however upgrading your actuator if you have a slightly older car.  Which will produce a much smoother power delivery and it will help you control the pressure in the system.
I would really recommend them, good competitive prices and trustworthy !

Hope this helps,

Fin
