Oldest Abarth owner?
« on: June 16, 2017, 08:03:15 PM »
Following on from the youngest owner thread l thought it may be interesting to start an oldest owner thread.
I am 65 and Ann would not expect me to disclose her age.
We have just purchased a 595 Trofeo.

Hi old gits, I'm 44 and after my wife has sold her mini JCW ( that was mine really) I've needed a small nippy car. So I've purchased a new Trofeo and I love it. My wife also thinks I'm having a middle life crisis! Maybe I am but hey ho!!!!! You only live once.

I'm 66 and a bit worried that I'll soon have to drive an electric car soon  like my older brother. The joy is to hear that rather naughty noise of the Abarth when it fires up. My neighbour says it is a better noise than his Aston Martin so when he comes out I give the throttle a blip. The car is going brilliantly . My wife says we must get a bungalow and  something more sensible !  What? I am seriously thinking about another 595 .Depends on the bones holding out as there is one country road I like to buzz along and I need a warm radox  bath after my trip as the bouncing about is tremendous. I had an Austin A35 in 1970 and that went well but the Abarth is the same size with four times the power. In those days the fun was not when the back let go in the Austin but when the front started to get twitchy on its crossplies at the same time. I turned it over in a ditch but crawled away to live another day and learnt my lesson.I expect younger drivers have not had the joys of crossplies or remoulds in the wet!! Remoulds. Pretty dodgy at times.
