Nicks 500 - My leap from VW to Abarth
« on: July 14, 2017, 12:46:30 PM »
Just made a leap from a long line of VW vans and hot hatch ownership...

My verdict so far......I love it!!  Bucket loads of fun!! ;D

Now it's got a good history but needs a bit of a tidy up here and there.  A clay bar session and some elbow grease brought it out of its shell a bit.

As a bit of a laugh and because I just fancied having a go, I have started trying to document my progress on tidying up my Abarth and upgrading bits as a when.

The next video will full document me installing a new cat back exhaust.  So take a look if you like, but go easy... still learning.   :P

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Yes the exhaust is going to get sorted!!   ::) Nothing too loud as my wife will use it for going to work if her shifts fall on a weekend but it will be stainless and it will burble and pop when played with.

Hoping to have it delivered next Thursday and then fit it over next Friday or Saturday night.  Fingers crossed.

After loads of reading and comparing I went for a Cobra Sport stainless cat back.  Resonated.

I was after something that made the most of the low down throaty tones you get a little of from the factory exhaust, most of what seems to be available is either trick back boxes with valves for a heft price tag or systems that are effectively straight pipes  and I didn't want anything too obnoxious on this car as I am trying to keep it relatively standard and just upgrade for sake of improvement on factory failed parts...

It's due to be delivered Thursday so I'll fit it Friday night all being well and get a video up.  :P

Right... After battling the British weather Friday night and Saturday the exhaust is now on!! Love it!!  Haven't used it in anger yet but it's got a lovely little burble now.

I had planned on doing an install guide style video but the rain put a stopper to that so I had a bit of fun instead...
