My 500 Esseesse
« on: July 19, 2017, 05:21:46 PM »
I owned an Abarth 500 135 a couple of years ago and despite a few cars since then, nothing has been able to replace it so this weekend we bought another.

Its an Abarth 500 Esseesse, full main dealer & specialist service history, red leather, auto climate etc.

Modifications are a full Milltek exhaust system, polybushed throughout and adjustable camber mods. Has been set up by the previous owner for fast road and it certainly handles well!

Tyres are Yoko Parada Spec2's that I've had in the past and always rated.

It's great to be back behind the wheel of an Abarth!   8)

Anyway, here's a few pictures...

Lovely car mate. Some great pics. Mine all clean first day I picked it up 3 weeks ago. I want to mob it a bit but I have no idea what to do to it, inside or out any ideas!

Fitted my "Kill All Wipers" rear wiper delete kit. Really impressed with the quality, it comes with sealant that you spread around the large part that pushes snuggly into the hole left by the rear wiper. Looks exactly the same as the rear window surrounding it colour wise and is a perfect fit - very easy to fit and would recommend it to anyone over a bung. They're only 9.99 on ebay delivered. ;D

Also cleaned the car, went for a drive as the sun was out and found a lovely location to snap a few photos...

Ordered myself up one of the updated Bluespark boxes last week, and finally got round to fitting it.

So much better throttle response and mid range power than with the standard Esseesse map.
Currently testing the different settings, C was a little too tame for my liking so now currently in E (which my old one was) and it's awesome.

Was easy to fit (had fitted one to my previous 135) and everything was included in the box including cable ties, detailed instructions and the customer service from them was very good with a quick delivery as well.
I would highly recommend a bluespark box for your Abarth if you've not got one already, and perhaps don't want to get it remapped completely as the boxes can be removed and then sold/updated to your new vehicle.

Popped out this morning for a little drive and to do some photos...

Thanks  :) The backdrop does look lovely, but they were in fact taken on the Moors in Devon (Plymouth/Cornwall crossover).

Right okay... update long overdue!

The clutch was slipping under hard acceleration in the higher gears so had a new genuine clutch fitted at work (Abarth dealer). Old one didn't look too bad, but you could see it had been struggling due to markings etc on the surface and the fact that the friction material was worn down. New clutch in, and the car drives superb.

Also had the car dyno tested along with a few other local Abarths and was really pleased with the outcome.
Car made over 180bhp (just) and produced bucket loads of torque nice and early in the rev range which would explain why it feels so good to drive on the roads. Even the dyno operator remarked upon how well it performed and the results it got! Setup was a a bluespark tuning box on setting E, bmc panel filter and a Milltek stainless system.

And the most important update, I got new wheels... Always wanted a set of these and just couldn't justify the price, but after biting the bullet I'm so glad I did. Car gets so much more attention, and I think they really make it look like a life size hot wheels toy car...
