Silverstone Classics

Provisional dates have been announced, as Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August. These will be confirmed only when the FIA confirm the Formula 1 calendar for 2021, something which usually happens in early December (and the announced dates are usually simply ratified).

Please hold Sunday (yes, this year the event will be on a Sunday) July 18th in your diaries for the 2021 Brooklands Auto Italia.

All tickets will need to be purchased in advance, which will also have the advantage of speeding up entrance on the day. As soon as they are available, I will post an update here to advise, along with the process for anyone who still holds a 2020 ticket that they were unable to use

Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia

Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia

We've been invited to participate in the Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia weekend, with an Abarth Owners Club presence among the Car Club displays.

Those of you who've been to Shelsley will know what a delightful location this is, set in the Teme Valley, and home to the oldest motorsport venue in the UK. Core to the location is the Hill Climb, and whilst we won't be able to do that, you will get excellent view of the cars that are rushing up the hill as there is excellent hill-side viewing all the way up. There will be a lot more than that to take in during the event, though.

Thruxton Historic

We are delighted to announce that, in conjunction with our friends at AOC Surrey Sussex and Hampshire (SSH), we have successfully applied for a Club presence at the 2021 Thurxton Historic Festival. A new event to the calendar in 2019, the event was fortunate to be able to run in 2020 when it was one of the first to take place after Lockdown restrictions eased. With dates for the 2021 event set for the 12th and 13th June it looks as if that is going to be the case in 2021, as well. Those who attended in 2020 enjoyed a great day out, and we had an absolutely fantastic dedicated parking area on the banking on the outside of the circuit, right opposite the exit to the pits, giving outstanding views of the track.

Northern Italian Car Day

Northern Italian Car Day

Auto Italia is excited to re-introduce our Northern Italian Car Day at Raby Castle. The event was originally to take place at this stunning venue on 12th July. For obvious reasons we have moved our new event to September 5th.

Raby Castle is without doubt one of the most impressive intact castles in the North of England. Built in the 14th century by the powerful Nevill family, it has a fascinating history. Discover what this tremendous building and it’s parkland setting has to offer.

The event is open to Italian cars of all eras and there will be club and marque displays, trade and catering. The well kept estate has good access from the A1(M) and A66 main roads and ideal for Italian car owners based in Yorkshire, the North East and North West.

AT THIS TIME THERE WILL BE SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES IN PLACE.

All Italian cars from Fiats to Ferraris and all in between will be invited to display in the park grounds.
Further information on tickets keep an eye on www.raby.co.uk.

Festival Italia

Festival Italia

This event is yet to be confirmed.

Taking place for the fifth time in 2020 is the Festival Italia at Brands Hatch. The date is Sunday 16th August and like previous years, attendees can expect an action-packed day with races and parades on the track, including rounds of the Ferrari Challenge and Alfa racing, a huge display of Italian Cars, and all manner of other attractions including stalls selling Italian food and drink, the sounds of Italy all being broadcast across the site and the likelihood of a mass track parade of hundreds of Italian cars, in which you can take part, to round things off. . Abarth Owners Club has been registered as one of the participating Car Clubs. This means that we will get an in-field display area (the precise location of which, the organisers choose, I don't!), and there are free tickets available which will admit the car and driver. Note that passengers will need to acquire their own paid-for tickets. The process for applying for tickets is the same as it was in 2019, and is now all online. To get one of the AOC tickets, go to the event website, and head to the "Get Involved" section, rather than the one marked "Tickets", namely: http://www.festivalitalia.com/get-involved/italian-car-and-bike-owners/ When you click on the option under "Italian car and Bike Clubs", you will be asked to sign in with an MSV userid if you have one, or to create an account if not. Once you have an account, you will have the option to select from Abarth Owners Club as your affiliated Club. You will be asked for a few details, including an upload of a picture of your car. This is stored and will be usable info for any other MSV events. Once your application is approved, you will be sent a link to allow you to print off your own tickets. Note that initially we have 40 spaces. Demand will almost certainly exceed supply, but for now, that is all we have as this is Festival Italia and not Festival Abarth, as we were politely reminded last year when we asked for more. We may get some nearer to the event, but don't rely on this happening. For those who do not manage to secure one of the 40, you can still register your car as an individual, which will give you a pass for your car (also free for car and driver) in the "General Italian" parking area. I am well aware that this event is still 8 months away, and that plans may change between now and August. If you get a ticket now and find yourself unable to use it, please be public-spirited and make sure that someone else gets the chance to take your place. In 2019 there were 6 people who had a ticket and simply did not show up - this is unfair to those who could have attended in your place.

Abarth’s At Thruxton Historic Festival

The organisers of the rescheduled Thruxton Historic Festival contacted us to advise that barring any changes to Covid-related policy so only are they are going to be able to run the event but they will be able to allow spectators to attend, and they were particular keen to get a strong Car Club presence at the event. Accordingly, we’ve signed up Abarth Owners Club, for both days. Tickets must be bought in advance, to guarantee admission. Closer to the event we will email arrival information and any other details for the day to you. Club parking will be on the banking and grass areas around the outside of the circuit and the Abarth area will be signposted. Note that there will be no public access to the infield during the event. Updated information regarding the event and FAQs can be found on the event page. This was a new event for 2019, and I've not been to it, but I believe that you will get something not unlike the Donington Historic and Silverstone Classic events, if not quite as sizeable. More details are on the event's website: https://thruxtonracing.co.uk/racing/historic Here is a summary of what to expect: The new annual two-day event will feature a mouth-watering array of sensational sportscars, flame-spitting saloons and evocative racing cars over two days of action-packed racing at the UK's fastest race circuit. If you cannot attend on the new date, a full refund will be made.
